Who we are
Bien vieillir chez soi Cocagne started a pilot project in 2020, led by Catherine Bigonnesse, a post-doctoral researcher from the Centre d’études du vieillissement at the University of Moncton, as well as Majella Dupuis, a retired nurse who led the work of the Age-Friendly Community committee in Cocagne for several years. Financing for this pilot project came in part from the Government of New-Brunswick’s Healthy Seniors Pilot Project, with financial contribution from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Bien vieillir chez soi Cocagne Inc. officially became a non-profit organization in October 2020.
Following the municipal reform of 2023, the Rural Community of Cocagne becomes the Rural Community of Beausoleil, which includes Cocagne, Grande-Digue, Shediac Bridge, Shediac River and Notre-Dame. In 2024, Bien vieillir chez soi Cocagne Inc. becomes Bien vieillir chez soi Beausoleil Inc. and extends its programs and services to the entire Rural Community of Beausoleil. Currently, we have three full-time employees and a part-time cook for our meal delivery service. The organization also benefits from a large number of volunteers and the support of several partners.
